Mr. Stephen J. O'Leary
Entrepreneur in Residence, General Catalyst
As an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at General Catalyst Partners, Steve O’Leary focuses on identifying new investment opportunities across a range of technology-driven markets.
Prior to joining General Catalyst, Steve spent 19 years with Broadview International which was acquired by Jefferies & Co. in late 2003. Most recently, he served as Co-Head of Technology Investment Banking. Additionally, Steve was a founder and head of the firm’s Waltham, MA office and a member of Broadview’s board of directors. As a strategic advisor, Steve completed more than 100 M&A transactions across software, internet media, financial technology, information services and other sectors.
Prior to joining Broadview, Steve spent four years with BancBoston Ventures, the venture capital arm of the former Bank of Boston, where his portfolio included Tolerant Systems (the predecessor of VERITAS Software), IDEXX Laboratories (NASDAQ: IDXX) and MathSoft, Inc. Steve also served as a nuclear submarine officer with the US Navy where he earned his Nuclear Engineer qualification.
Steve serves as a trustee of the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree with Distinction in Mathematics from the US Naval Academy and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
